Liverpool are on the verge of securing Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, with the Georgian goalkeeper set to undergo a medical today (Monday).

The deal, valued at €35 million ($39.1m) plus a sell-on clause, will see Mamardashvili join Liverpool in July 2025. However, he will remain with Valencia for the current season.

The Reds have been linked with numerous potential signings throughout the summer transfer window, but no new additions have been made to Arne Slot’s squad so far.

As the transfer deadline approaches, the club have shifted their strategy to secure Mamardashvili, a known target, before time runs out.

Initially, there were rumors that Liverpool might loan Mamardashvili to Bournemouth after completing the transfer. However, Premier League rules prohibit a player from being immediately loaned to a rival club in the same league.

This forced Liverpool to reconsider their approach, which may explain the ongoing negotiations with Valencia regarding the deal’s financial structure.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool are finalizing the details of the agreement, which will see the 23-year-old shot-stopper join the Reds in two years.

With the transfer window closing at 11 p.m. (GMT) on Friday, Liverpool will need to act swiftly to ensure everything is in place for this long-term addition to their squad.
